A rebrand is not something that should be rushed into, but then again, if you have that inner knowing that something just isn’t sitting right, you shouldn’t ignore it either. You don’t want to stay in the same place if you feel you’ve moved on, and listening to your gut is always a good thing.
Here are 6 signs that you may be ready for a rebrand.
You feel embarrassed
This is one I see often, and have felt myself. What once seemed to be perfect, and something you were proud to stand with, now feels like an ill-fitting jumper, and something you would prefer not to be associated with. To the extent that you stop sharing your website or business cards with potential clients because it just feels so out of alignment with where you are now.
This also applies to…
You followed a trend and now it feels dated
Again it felt right at the time, you jumped into a design trend that was popular, and you did really love it. But now it has started to feel dated. You look at others online and know that you want a more elevated feel for your business, and that your current look and feel just isn’t right for where you want to take things.
This brings me to…
It doesn’t feel right for the future of your business
You’ve grown since you first started your business, you’ve gained a lot of clarity on who you want to attract, and how you want to position your brand, and your current brand visuals just don’t align with that vision. You know that design plays a big role in attracting the right audience, and are ready to get some help to make sure you do it effectively.
You’re changing direction
As we grow we change, and sometimes take a completely different direction. Your clients have changed, and you feel a major disconnect to how you’re presenting yourself. Maybe where once you were creating wedding invitations now you offer Pinterest management. This would be a good time to re-evaluate who your soul clients are, and how you differ from others in your industry.
You don’t stand out
It can be all too easy to take inspiration from how other brands in our industry are presenting themselves, and end up looking very similar. You want your brand to be memorable to your audience, to stand out and be unique, not blend in with the crowd. It’s important to look at your competitors, but to take the view of “how can we do it differently, and still align with our brand personality and audience”.
You don’t have a brand identity… really it’s just a logo
When you started your business, one of the first things you did was sort yourself out with a logo. Great, it got you to where you are now! But you know you don’t have a cohesive look and feel to your brand visuals, and you feel a little all over the place.
If you are in any of these stages, take it as a massive positive. You are growing, and ready to evolve into your next chapter, and that is a very exciting place to be!
